Medtech fundings for October 2013

Medtech fundings for the month of October 2013 totaled $372 million, led by an $87 million funding by cataract laser company, LENSAR, Inc. Below is a list of the top fundings:

  • LENSAR, Inc., has raised $87 million in a $27 million equity and $60 million debt funding according to press reports (cataract laser)
  • Healios K.K. has raised $30.6 million in a round of funding according to the company (stem cell treatment of age-related macular degeneration)
  • SpinalMotion, Inc., has raised $25.6 million in a round of funding according to a regulatory filing (artificial spinal discs)
  • CorMatrix Cardiovascular, Inc., has raised $24.6 million in a round of funding according to a regulatory filing (biomaterial devices to repair damaged heart tissue)
  • Svelte Medical Systems, Inc., has raised $22 million in a private round of funding according to the company (coronary stents including drug eluting stents)
  • Amaranth Medical, Inc., has raised $20 million in a Series B round of funding according to the company (biodegradable drug eluting stent for peripheral vascular applications)
