European Wound Care Markets: Slicing the Data

This is a brief overview of the European wound care market, but used in particular to highlight the importance of understanding what data is important and why.  What products and technologies are currently driving big annual revenues? What technology sales are growing fastest?  Where is the biggest boost in revenue coming from?

For the sake of example, we look at the European component of our analysis of wound management markets forecast from 2012 to 2020.

Below is the 2012 European market for wound care products by type.  This shows the high revenue markets currently.

Next, below are projected compound annual growth rates for the different wound care product types in Europe from 2012 to 2020.  A very different picture from above, illustrating the obvious fact that market size and market growth do not necessarily correlate.

Lastly, here is the difference between in the annual revenue for European wound care products, by type, in 2020 and in 2012.  This shows the big jump in revenue over the current levels by product. For example, this shows that the sales per year of NPWT in 2020 is $200 million higher than it was in 2012.

The conclusions one would draw from this analysis are based on one’s perspective; what is more important — current revenue, growth markets or future revenue?
