Active Companies in Sutures, Staples and Other Mechanical Wound Closure

There are hundreds of active companies in the overall field of wound closure, a field once solely represented by sutures, but now comprised of an incredible array of biological, physical and hybrid products that provide a growing list of more specialized functions in wound “closure”, including simply wound closure as well as hemostasis, adjunctive sealing/closure, high strength adhesion, and even prevention of post-surgical adhesion (see Report #S190).

Narrowing this field to simply the physical methods of wound closure, including sutures, staples, clips, and other mechanical closure still leaves a considerable number of active companies.

Below, see the number of companies active in mechanical closure, non-resorbable sutures, resorbable sutures, staples and related devices, clips and related devices, and other physical closures.

Companies active in these areas are frequently also not content to provide only one type of  closure, with at least ten companies active in two more types of closure technologies.

Below, see the number of active segments in which each of the companies is involved.
