Wound management technologies are currently comprised of multiple different approaches and the number and types will continue to grow as large numbers of chronic wound patients sustain demand for innovation and manufacturers respond by developing and offering diverse wound treatments.
Already there are many types of wound dressings available, providing enhanced functional capabilities to promote wound healing rather than simply providing a cover to the wound. Adding to this are growth factors of various types, tissue engineering options and a whole array of "physical therapies" including negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), positive pressure wound therapy (PPWT), hydrotherapy, electrical stimulation, hyperbaric oxygen, electromagnetic stimulation, ultrasound, laser, and others. These physical therapies will especially grow to command a larger share of the future market.
